New air fryer?

Air fryers come with a protective coating, which can give off a plastic smell.

Please check your air fryer manual for the recommended test run procedure.

Has the air fryer stopped smelling?

Food debris or oil stuck on the heating coil

Your air fryer will smell if there is food debris or oil stuck to the heating coil or in the cooking chamber.

Check and clean the cooking chamber and heating coil.

Please check your air fryer manual for this procedure.

Has the air fryer stopped smelling?

Positioning of the air fryer

The air fryer has a fan inside which circulates the hot air around the food.

But if the air fryer is not positioned on a solid level base or the sat on the power cord, this can cause the air fryer to vibrate.

Ensure the air fryer is positioned on a solid level surface and the power cord is not trapped underneath.

Is the air fryer now quieter?

Loose food debris in the cooking chamber?

If there is food debris in the cooking chamber, when the air fryer is running this can make rattling noise.

Always clean the basket and cooking chamber after every use to prevent this from happening.

Please check your air fryer manual for this procedure.

Too much food in the basket?

Having too much food in the basket, the hot air can not circulate around the food properly making the food take longer to cook.

Ensure the basket is not overloaded.

Has the cooking time improved?

Rotate the food

Food does not move around in an air fryer basket which can cause some parts of the food to cook slower than other parts.

To avoid this, using oven gloves carefully remove the basket, then using tongs or a non-metal spoon move the food around. Place the basket back into the cooking chamber.

Has the cooking time improved?

Vents blocked / insufficient ventilation

If there is insufficient ventilation or the vents are blocked on the air fryer, this can have the same effect as overfilling the basket. The air fryer could also malfunction.

Please check your air fryer manual for the recommended clearance requirements.

Has the cooking time improved?

Oil or fat in the cooking chamber

White smoke can come from the air fryer if there any oil or fat inside the cooking chamber.

Check and clean the cooking chamber and heating coil.

Please check your air fryer manual for this procedure.

Has the air fryer stopped emitting white smoke?

Fat high content food

Using the air fryer to cook high fat content food, such sausages, bacon and hamburger can release grease and cover the heating coil. This can cause the air fryer to emit white smoke.

Ensure the food you are cooking does not have a high fat content.

Check and clean the cooking chamber and heating coil.

Please check your air fryer manual for this procedure.

Has the air fryer stopped emitting white smoke?

Cooking moist food

Cooking moist food in the air fryer can cause the air fryer to emit white smoke.

Never add water or other liquids to the cooking chamber.

Pat dry the moist food before cooking in the air fryer.

Has the air fryer stopped emitting white smoke?

Residue food on the heating coil?

Please check your air fryer manual for this procedure.

Has the air fryer stopped emitting black smoke?

Incorrect oil used

Using an oil with a low smoke point can cause the air fryer to emit black smoke.
