Oven control knob at 0
Has the oven control knob been set to 0?




Turn the oven control knob to 0
Turn the oven control knob to 0.



Did this resolve the issue?
Fan duration
Does the fan run for more than a hour after cooking has finished?


Normal fan operation
The cooling fan is controlled by a thermostat. The cooling fan may continue even when the oven is off for a short period of time. This is considered normal operation.


New cooker
Is the cooker brand new?


Burning or electrical smell
Is it like a burning or electrical smell?


Power reset
Turn the power off at the mains, wait a few minutes, then turn the power back on.



Is the smell still present?
Power off
Turn the power off at the mains and call Tech Support for advice.


Monitor the situation
Monitor the situation, and if the problem persists, call Tech Support.


A new cooker may have a slight smell the first time it is used
A new cooker may have a slight smell the first time it is used. This is normal and is caused by a protective insulation material that is on the heater elements.

Run the main oven at Max temperature for 45 mins.

Open the oven door and allow the oven to cool.

Wipe down the oven with hot soapy water.



Did this resolve the issue?
Run the main oven at Max temperature for 45 mins again
Repeat the process once or twice more.



When the smell has gone, open the oven door to allow the oven to cool.
Food or loose debris
Remove any loose food or debris from inside the oven.

Clean inside the oven
Thoroughly clean in the inside of the oven using a non-abrasive cloth with warm soapy water, wash the shelves in warm soapy water using a scrubbing brush. Wipe the oven with a soft non-abrasive cloth and dry the shelves.

Is the cooker turned on at the mains?
Check that the cooker is turned on at the mains.



Did this resolve the issue?
Cooker circuit is on at the fuse board
Check that the cooker circuit is switched on at the fuse board. If either, or both, the cooker switch or the RCD (if the fuse board has one) is in the OFF position, check for any faults with the cooker and try switching the switches back into the ON position.



Did this resolve the issue, or did the switch trip back into the OFF position?
Internal light working?
Does the interior oven light now work?


Replace the light bulb
The interior light bulb may be broken and maybe in need of replacing.

Please check your cooker manual for this procedure.

When pushing the ignition button in, is there a clicking noise heard?


Is the cooker turned on at the mains?
Check that the cooker is turned on at the mains.



Can a clicking noise now be heard when pushing the ignition button in?
Cooker circuit is on at the fuse board
Check that the cooker circuit is switched on at the fuse board. If either, or both, the cooker switch or the RCD (if the fuse board has one) is in the OFF position, check for any faults with the cooker and try switching the switches back into the ON position.



Did this resolve the issue, or did the switch trip back into the OFF position?
Ignition click
Can a clicking noise now be heard when pushing the ignition button in?


Igniting the burner
When igniting the burner continue to hold the desired burner control knob in for a few seconds, until the flame is alight and stable before releasing.



Did this resolve the issue?
Food or debris obstruction
Check that there is no food or debris preventing the hob burner lighting.

Using a toothpick or similar utensil to clean out the burner holes.



Re-ignite the burner.

Burner parts aligned
Check that all the burner parts are properly aligned, as incorrectly fitted parts can cause the burner to burn inefficiently.

Please check your cooker manual for this procedure.



Re-ignite the burner.

Gas line
Turn the corresponding gas burner control knob to 0. Open doors and windows so the room can be ventilated.



Check that there are no kinks or obstructions in the gas line.

Wait 90 seconds, then re-ignite the burner.

Did this resolve the issue?
Strong draught
Strong draughts can affect the flame of the gas burner.

Check there are no strong draughts near the hob.

Liquid under the burner cap
Is there liquid under the burner cap?

Remove the burner cap, clean, then reassemble.

Check that all the burner parts are properly aligned, as incorrectly fitted parts can cause the burner to burn inefficiently.

Food or debris obstruction
Check that there is no food or debris preventing the hob burner from lighting.

Using a toothpick or similar utensil clean out the burner holes.

Check that there are no kinks or obstructions in the gas line.

Advice about condensation
It is normal for condensation and steam to build up in the oven during and after cooking especially with food which has a high water content (e.g., chicken or frozen chips).

Pre-heating the oven before placing food into the oven can help reduce the amount of condensation being produced.

Avoid leaving food in the oven to cool down after being cooked.

This will minimise steam and condensation being produced.

Check the oven door window seal for damage.
A damaged seal can cause condensation to build up on the door window seal.

Replace the dial / control knob
Replace the dial / control knob by pushing it back into place, ensuring it is lined up correctly.
