Is the mains power connected
Check that the microwave is plugged in and turned on at the mains.



Does the microwave heat the food now?
Vents blocked?
Blocking the vents can cause the microwave to overheat and turn off.



Remove any objects which are blocking the vents.

Ensure the microwave vents have plenty of space for air to circulate.

Please check your microwave manual for the recommended clearance requirements.

Defrost mode selected
Most models of microwaves have a defrost option, check that the defrost has not been selected.

Heat a cup of water in the microwave.



Does the water heat up?
Incorrect heat setting selected
Having the incorrect power setting and heating timer will result in the food not heating properly or not heating at all.



Please check the food packaging for the correct power setting and heating time.

Is the wave guide cover clean?
The wave guide cover is a metallic sheet that allows energy waves from the magnetron through to heat your food.



An unclean wave guide cover can affect the performance of the microwave.

Clean the wave guide with a soft damp cloth.

Carry out a power cycle
Switch the microwave off at the mains and remove the plug. Leave for 5 minutes. Plug the microwave back into the mains and switch on.

Plug the microwave into a different mains socket.

Does the microwave have a rotating turntable?


Turntable assembled correctly
If the turntable is not correctly mounted on the turntable rollers, the turntable will not rotate properly which can cause the food to burn or under-cook.



Check that the turntable is mounted correctly on the turntable rollers.

Please check your microwave manual for the assembly procedure.

Is the food heating correctly now?
Clean the turntable rollers
If food or debris builds up around the turntable rollers, the turntable will not rotate properly which can cause the food to burn or under-cook.



Check that the turntable rollers are clean and free from food or debris.

Please check your microwave manual for the cleaning procedure.
