Positioning the fridge freezer

Please check your fridge freezer manual for this procedure.

Leaking drain hose

The drain hose carries the moisture from the fridge to the drip tray. If this is damaged or perished water will leak onto the floor.

Check the drainhose to see if its perished or damaged and leaking water.

Please check your fridge freezer for the drain hose location.

Is water leaking from the drain hose?

Drip tray

The drip tray collects the moisture which collects in the fridge and has been expelled through the drain hole.

Is the fridge freezer new or been turned off for a long period of time?

If the fridge freezer is new, or been turned off for a long period of time, the compressor will run for a long period of time getting the fridge freezer to the desired temperature, wait to see if the compressor stops.

Has the compressor stopped constantly running?

Thermostat set too high

Having the thermostat set too high will make the fridge / freezer compartment too cold and make the compressor run for a longer period of time.

Check that the thermostat is set to the correct setting.

Please check your fridge freezer manual for the recommended setting.

Is the thermostat set to the recommended temperature?

Set the fridge freezer thermostat to the correct temperature.

Please check your fridge freezer manual for the recommended settings.

If this does not solve the problem please try the troubleshooter again for further help.

Has the door been left open for a long period of time?

Leaving the fridge / freezer door open a long period of time will allow warm air in. The compressor will have to work harder to reach the desired temperature

Always close the fridge door as soon as possible after opening it. and ensure it is shut properly.

Placing warm food into the fridge / freezer

Placing warm food in the fridge can increase the temperature causing the compressor to run longer before the desired temperature is reached.

Ensure only cooled or room temperature food is placed into the freezer.

Has warm food been placed into the fridge recently?

Remove the warm food

Remove the warm food, and wait until it has cooled or reached room temperature.

Fridge freezer strange noises

At times your fridge freezer may appear noisy, or make some noises. Many of the sounds you may hear are the normal operating noises of this type of appliances. Examples of normal noises are:

  • Cracking sounds within the fridge are usually caused during the automatic defrosting process.
  • Loud vibrating or motor sounds are usually caused by the internal compressor or internal fan.
  • A bubbling noise coming from the fridge is usually caused by the flow of refrigerant in tubes of the system.
  • The sound of water flowing or dripping is heard. This is usually due to water flowing in the drain tray.
  • An air blowing noise is normal and is caused by circulation of air within the fridge and freezer.
  • A clicking noise is caused by the thermostat turning the compressor on/off.

Positioning of the fridge freezer

If the fridge is installed with little or no clearance, it could be vibrating against the surrounding wall or cupboard.

Please check your fridge freezer manual for the recommended posistioning of the appliance.
